In this project, student-consultants working in teams will apply their accounting skills in managerial decision-making towards a challenge in the areas of planning and controlling operations pertinent to your organization. Areas assessed might include cost terminology and behavior; break-even analysis; relevant costs; master budgeting with an emphasis on cash flow and income projection; responsibility accounting systems and variance analysis. The students will develop a report for your organization upon completion of the project.

Learners have a foundational understanding of law enforcement, court procedures, and correctional systems, and are eager to engage in practical projects that enhance their problem-solving and analytical skills. By collaborating with industry professionals, students can contribute to meaningful projects that address current challenges within criminal justice agencies. While compensation is not required for participation, some partners may choose to offer a stipend or honorarium to support student involvement. To help us better understand the range of opportunities available, we ask whether you are open to providing compensation—though this is entirely optional and will not impact your ability to participate.

Understand the types of operations and logistics/supply chain problems encountered in managing a business, government or non-profit organization, either manufacturing or service oriented. B. Apply critical thinking and the appropriate business analytical techniques to common problems encountered in various cultural and global business settings. C. Demonstrate an understanding of the increasing importance of sustainability and its close relationship with many essential functions of operations and logistics/supply chain management. D. Demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation for the ethical/legal environment encountered in operations and logistics/supply chain management. E. Use analytical thinking and reasoning skills as applied to operations and logistics/supply chain management problems using innovative Excel based quantitative techniques. F. Implement effective communications and interpersonal skills in problem solving. G. This experience is delivered by business problem solving or strategy development related to Sustainability in operations and logistics/supply chain management.
